Message from the Founding Director - Headstrong partner with the Gaelic Players Association.

Through the GPA, 25 county players have come forward to act as Youth Mental Health advocates in their communities. These players will be taking part in a mental health literacy education programme.

Learning Network starts at Headstrong

We are delighted to announce that the Headstrong Learning Network (HLN) commences this week (February 23rd) at the Headstrong offices in Dublin's Pearse Street. This follows the overwhelming success and positive feedback from the first Headstrong Learning Network held in 2010.

Following an intense autumn of interviews and focus groups with service providers and several groups of young people, the Jigsaw team has been working hard collating feedback and information across the six new Jigsaw locations in Donegal, Offaly, North Fingal, Dublin 15, Clondalkin and Tallaght.

Jigsaw Galway records busiest month of first quarter

January 2012 was Jigsaw Galway's busiest month in its three year history. Eighty three young people were referred to Jigsaw Galway during this month where previously, the busiest months were March and April.

Jigsaw Kerry hosted a Networking and Information morning in Tralee on November 28th 2011. This morning was attended by over 80 individuals representing agencies and organisations from around the county, many of whom provide front line services for young people.

Headstrong's Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) receives many requests to speak at conferences and events throughout the country. One such request was from the Community Recovery and Reconnect project that received funding from Genio in September to run a pilot, community-based project with an emphasis on peer support.

Staff Changes

Marie Louise Neary joined the Headstrong team in December as our Jigsaw Development Officer. She will be running the Headstrong Learning Network which brings together community leaders in mobilising their own local areas to better meet the mental health needs of young people.
